Job Summary
The Surgical Technician is accountable for assisting the surgical team to provide patient care for assigned patients under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Performs all duties and responsibilities in such a way as to demonstrate and support the hospital's Catholic heritage and Avera co-sponsorship values of hospitality, compassion and stewardship. Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies standards and Catholic Ethical and Religious Directives.
Education and/or Experience
- Graduation from an approved Surgical Technology education program or 5 years relevant experience required.
- 6 months experience required, 3-5 years’ experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Credentialed (current) by the (NBSTSA) National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
- (NCCT) National Center for Competency Testing as Certified Surgical Technologist.
- Basic Life Support certification (BLS) required.
Work Schedule
- Varied day shifts, 72 hours every 2 weeks
- Weekday on-call rotation
- Weekend on-call rotation
- Holiday on-call rotation
Pay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
